Paragliding

The Brunni region provides an outstanding infrastructure for paragliding. A total of three starting areas are available, all of which are easily accessible via cable car and chairlift.

Schonegg Starting Area

Altitude:at 2,000 metres
Exposure:southern
Description:moderately sloping face in the meadowlands; space for 10 paragliders
Accessibility:with cable car and chairlift, the remainder on foot (ca 20 min); in winter, directly accessible via the Schonegg ski lift.

Brunni Starting Area

Altitude:at 1,860 metres
Exposure:western
Description:moderately sloping face in the meadowlands; space for 3 paragliders
Accessibility:with cable car and chairlift, the remainder on foot (ca. 4 min. traverse)

Dümpfeli Starting Area

Altitude:at 1,800 metres
Exposure:southern/south eastern
Description:slightly sloping face in the meadowlands; space for 10 paragliders
Accessibility:with cable car and chairlift, the remainder on foot (ca. 10 min descent)

All starting areas are well suited for first-flight training.

Landing zones

The official landing zone of the Brunni region is now on the field between Oberbergstrasse and Wasserfallstrasse in Engelberg. (No longer on Klostermatte!) See map below. It is also possible to land at the Flugschule Engelberg (flight school) behind the Eienwäldli campgrounds.

Special remarks

It is not possible to fly in the Brunni region in strong winds like the föhn and bise. Check up-to-date information on current weather conditions at the flight school  Flugschule Engelberg Tel. 041 637 07 07 or at the Brunni weather station.

We kindly request all paraglider pilots to follow the rules:

- Use only the official starting areas and landing zones.
- Comply with the minimum flight altitude in the Wilderness preservation areas
