In the Brunni area you can still go climbing in the winter months. The sunny Bettlerstock is a sheer, 50-metre-high spire that offers winter climbers many different routes to discover.
It has been over 20 years since the first climber scaled the south face of this superb, rugged rock face, which lies 1 km north of the Brunnihütte. In the 1990s, both the south and east faces of the rock gained a reputation as a great place for a quick climb, and a network of a dozen or so single pitch routes has since been established. Thanks to its sunny location, the climbing garden here provides perfect climbing conditions even in the winter.
You can find more information and maps of the individual climbing routes in the “Zentralschweizerische Voralpen” climbing guide, put together by Urs Lötscher of the Swiss Alpine Club.
