The sunny side of Engelberg has two beautiful snowshoe trails covering a total distance of around 6 km. Here, you can immerse yourself in unspoilt nature and pass by nature reserves, where you will usually see traces of wild animals – an incredible experience that will stay with you long after the holiday is over.
Snowshoe hire: Snowshoes are available for hire at CHF 15.00 per day from the Yeti-Park at Ristis. Please be aware that there is a limited number of snowshoes, so we recommend larger groups book in advance.
RIEDALP-TRAIL (duration: approx. 1h 30min.; distance: 2.46 km)
Experience the magic of nature far from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The trail begins 1,600 metres above sea level at the Bergrestaurant Ristis. From here you set off in an easterly direction across the Ried, where you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the snow-covered Hahnen. The path then heads in the direction of Ruchweg back to the start point. The path is hilly in places, but not steep, leading you past the nature reserve and through some of our most beautiful winter landscapes.
SCHÖNENBODEN TRAIL (duration: approx. 2h; distance: 3.52 km)
Discover the Brunni area by snowshoe – breath the fresh Alpine air and take in an incredible mountain panorama. This trail also begins at the Bergrestaurant Ristis. From here you set off west past the valley chairlift station and head along the road. After about 1 km you start the ascent. From the highest point you can enjoy magnificent views over Engelberg. Then you set off on a slow descent through the forest below the Ristis and back to the starting point. This trail involves a few changes in altitude and is slightly more challenging than the Riedalp trail.
