An easy-level via ferrata suitable for beginners, which requires a reasonable level of fitness. Climbers are secured by a steel cable throughout the course, and proper knowledge and use of the safety and climbing equipment is required.
|Where||South face of the Brunnistöckli (2,030 metres a.s.l.)|
|Starting point|| |
You can reach the Brunni mountain hut by cableway or chairlift from Engelberg via Ristis. Then follow the marked mountain path (“Brunni Trail”) in the direction of the Rugghubel mountain hut for about 450 metres. The starting point is then to your left as you go uphill (1,880 metres a.s.l.).
|Duration||15min for the walk from the Brunnihütte to the starting point |
45min for via ferrata ascent
20min for descent
Please use the marked path to reach the starting point (white-and-red mountain hike path). Then use the steel cables, footholds and two suspension bridges to get to Schonegg. The only way to descend from the summit is to take the mountain path (marked white and blue) – not the via ferrata!
